Get A Free Education From Online Library

The public library is a wonderful resource to learn many skills for free.  Take King County Library System, for example.   The online library has so many databases that you can get a free education!  This blog describes the content of the kcls online library.

If you want a tutor to learn English, you can connect with one.   There is tutoring for adults, those preparing for college, and K-12.   In the Tutoring section, you can submit a paper for review.   You can submit an essay if you are a student.   If you are writing a cover letter and resume, you can ask a tutor to review them for you.   After you submit your document, you get it back within 12 hours.

Test Preparation

You can also take practice tests in Algebra, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, English I through IV, Math Fundamentals, and Physics.   There are preparation for SAT/ACT, SBAC, AP exams, and Get an Early Edge on Middle School math and English.   There are fun videos from the Princeton Review for Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics.   Language Arts skills include Reading, Writing, Grammar.   If you don’t want to spend money on tutoring, this is a great place to start.

The Gale Virtual Reference Library have sample business plans from entrepreneurs seeking funding for small businesses.   There are guides to scholarships, fellowships, and loans.

Learn Languages For Free

Mango Languages offers 71 languages, including Italian, French, German, Spanish, and English.   In fact, if you click on English, there are options such as English for Italian speakers, English for Japanese speakers, etc.

There is a database called Home & How-to videos.   It includes popular cooking shows, gardening, DIY, hobbies and learning.  There are quite a few P. Allen Smith’s videos.

Free access to Lynda.com

Then there is Lynda.com.    Usually, you need to pay for the subscription.   But through the King County Library, you can access it for free.   Lynda has tutorials on computer skills, web design, computer programming, video editing, project coordinating, business management, job and career paths, marketing, and more.
