October is not only the month for Halloween events and Oktoberfest, it’s also the month for several film festivals in the Pacific Northwest. Here are some October film festivals in Seattle.

South Asian Film Festival
The 14th Tasveer South Asian Film Festival will run through October 6th. It features films from Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Afghanistan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Tibet. Here is a link to Tasveer’s website.
Seattle Polish Film Festival
The 27th Annual Seattle Polish Film Festival runs from October 10-20. This is the second longest running Polish film festival in the United States. Vodka and a Drop of Art is showing on October 10. Lesbian and Gay Film Festival
Then there is the Lesbian and Gay Film Festival from October 10-20. Sid & Judy (Judy Garland) is playing on opening night. Same but different: a true New Zealand Love Story plays on October 12, based on the story of writer-director Nikki Si’Ulepa and producer Rachel Aneta Wills. Here is a link to the film guide 2019.
National Film Festival for Talented Youth
The National Film Festival for Talented Youth is now the world’s largest film festival for emerging directors, according to NFFTY. Each year this festival showcases films by directors 24-years-old and younger. You can learn more about watching their films from October 24-27 here.
Dog Film Festival
Last, but not least, is a film festival for dogs. Yes, you read that right! On October 12, you can bring your canine friend with you to Cinema Egyptian for this special event. This annual celebration of the love between us and our dogs features short films from around the world that inspire, educate, and entertain. 10% of the net proceed goes to Emerald City Pet Rescue.
